Billing & plans
Switch or cancel your plan, understand your monthly document counter, prorated billing for mid-cycle upgrades, annual vs monthly, VAT reverse charge for EU B2B.
How do I switch or cancel my plan?
Settings → Billing → pick a plan. Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge. Downgrades are scheduled for the end of the paid period — the target plan shows a 'Scheduled' badge and you can cancel the scheduled change any time before it flips. Cancelling keeps access until period end, then drops to Free. Subscriptions bought on iPhone are managed through Apple instead.
Understanding your document counter
Your document counter is the number of documents in your account that were created this calendar month — uploads plus email-extracted attachments. It resets when the month changes. Irrelevant emails, duplicates, failed uploads, and documents you've deleted don't count. At 100% new uploads are blocked but existing documents stay accessible. Free 10, Starter 30, Business 75, Growth 200.
Prorated billing when you upgrade mid-month
Upgrades take effect immediately and Stripe charges a prorated amount for the partial period until your next renewal. The math: credit for unused days at the old rate, charge for unused days at the new rate, net difference appears as one line. Downgrades take effect at period-end with no proration — you keep what you paid for.
Annual vs monthly billing — which to pick
Annual is ~17% cheaper than monthly — you pay for 10 months and get 12. Pick annual if you're confident you'll use TaxItEasy for at least 4–5 months. Pick monthly if you're in the trial phase or want maximum flexibility. Both are switchable anytime; the annual subscription renews automatically one year after the last annual charge.
VAT reverse charge for EU businesses
If you're a VAT-registered EU business outside Cyprus, add your VAT ID at checkout (or in your billing address under Settings → Billing). Stripe validates EU VAT IDs against VIES and applies reverse charge — your invoice from us shows VAT 0% with the reverse-charge clause. You self-account for VAT in your own country.
Subscribing on iPhone — in-app purchase
In the iPhone app you can subscribe to Starter or Business, monthly or yearly, as an Apple in-app purchase — our server verifies the purchase with Apple before the plan activates. Growth is not sold in-app; subscribe on the web instead. If a card subscription from the web is already active, the app blocks a second purchase. Android subscribes via the web billing page.
